Data Licensing
Last updated: August 2026
Scope
This page explains how data returned by the Orbistats API may be used, in addition to the general Terms of Service. It applies to all data delivered through the API, WebSocket streams, webhooks and bulk export — live scores, statistics, fixtures, odds and historical archives alike.
Data Ownership
Orbistats and its data sources retain ownership of the underlying sports and odds data. Your API key grants a license to use that data as described below — it does not transfer ownership of the data itself. You retain full ownership of your own product, application, and any original analysis, visualizations or commentary you build on top of it.
Permitted Use
Data returned by the API may be displayed within your own product — websites, apps, dashboards, or trading systems — for the account that holds the API key.
You may cache API responses for performance, provided the cache is refreshed at an interval appropriate to your plan's data freshness.
Restricted Use
You may not resell, sublicense, or redistribute raw Orbistats data as a standalone data feed or competing API without a separate commercial licensing agreement.
Bulk export of historical data for redistribution outside your own product requires an Enterprise data-licensing agreement.
License By Plan
What's included scales with your plan. Enterprise terms are set individually per agreement.
| Plan | Display in your product | Caching | Redistribution / resale |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | Yes, single account | Yes, within plan refresh interval | Not permitted |
| Pro | Yes, single account | Yes, within plan refresh interval | Not permitted |
| Enterprise | Yes | Yes | Available under separate agreement |
Examples
A few concrete illustrations of how these terms apply in practice:
- Showing live scores inside your own sports app
- Powering an internal trading dashboard with odds data
- Caching fixtures for a few minutes to reduce API calls
- Publishing charts or research built from the data, with commentary
- Reselling raw API responses as your own data feed
- Launching a competing sports data API on top of ours
- Bulk redistributing historical exports to third parties
- Stripping and republishing our data with no product built on top
Attribution
Attribution is not required for standard use, but we're glad when public dashboards or research using Orbistats data links back to us.
Enterprise & Bulk Licensing
If you need to redistribute data, license a bulk historical export, or embed our feed inside a product you resell, contact sales@orbistats.com for a data-licensing agreement.
