Terms of Service
Last updated: August 2026
Acceptance of Terms
By creating an account or using the Orbistats API, you agree to these terms. If you're using the API on behalf of a company, you're confirming you have the authority to bind that company to these terms.
Accounts & Eligibility
You must provide accurate account information and keep it up to date. You're responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and API keys, and for all activity that occurs under your account.
Use of the API
Your API key is issued to you and should not be shared publicly or resold without a separate agreement.
Usage is subject to the rate limits of your plan. Requests beyond your plan's limit may be throttled or rejected.
You may not use the API to build a product that resells raw Orbistats data as a competing data feed without a licensing agreement. See our Data Licensing page for what's permitted under each plan.
You may not use the API to violate applicable law, infringe on the rights of others, or interfere with the security or integrity of the service.
Intellectual Property
Orbistats and its data sources retain all rights, title and interest in the underlying data, the API, and the Orbistats name and branding. These terms grant you a limited license to use the API and data as described here and in our Data Licensing page — they don't transfer ownership of Orbistats' intellectual property to you. You retain ownership of your own product, application and any original content you build using the data.
Free and Paid Plans
Free-tier access is provided without a credit card and may be limited in request volume or data freshness. Paid plans are billed in advance on a monthly basis unless otherwise agreed in an enterprise contract.
Service Availability
We target the uptime and latency figures published on our status page, but the API is provided without a specific SLA on Free and Starter plans. Enterprise plans may include a dedicated SLA under a separate agreement.
Disclaimer of Warranties
The API and website are provided "as is" and "as available." Except as expressly stated in an enterprise SLA, we don't warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that data will be complete or accurate for every use case — sports data can be delayed, corrected, or disputed by official sources after the fact, and you're responsible for validating it's fit for your particular use.
Limitation of Liability
To the extent permitted by law, Orbistats will not be liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of the API or website, including lost profits or lost data, even if we've been advised of the possibility. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose, except where a separate enterprise agreement states otherwise.
Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold Orbistats harmless from claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of the API in violation of these terms, or from content or products you build using the data.
Termination
You may cancel your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access for violation of these terms, including abuse of rate limits or unauthorized resale of data.
Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which Orbistats is incorporated, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except where local law requires otherwise. Any dispute not resolved informally may be brought in the courts of that jurisdiction, subject to any separate arbitration terms agreed in an enterprise contract.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The "last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the API or website after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
